I design and crochet the pieces you'll find throughout S.H.O. myself.

Crochet has been part of my life since my mom taught me when I was a little girl, and what began as something she shared with me eventually grew into the studio you see today.

What are The Woodland, The Coast, and The Desert?

They're different worlds of inspiration within S.H.O.

🌿 The Woodland draws from moss-covered trails, wildflowers, forests, mushrooms, earthy colors, and the unexpected things found beneath the trees.

🌊 The Coast is inspired by sea glass, beaches, colorful reefs, shells, changing water, tropical color, and painted coastal skies.

🏜️ The Desert explores sandstone, sagebrush, turquoise skies, desert blooms, painted canyons, blazing sunsets, and wide-open horizons.

The collections aren't rigid rules. They're different places from which I draw color, texture, and ideas.

Sometimes a piece wanders somewhere unexpected—and that's part of the fun.

These are finished S.H.O. pieces that have already been made and are ready to ship.

No production wait. No crochet queue.

If you fall in love with something in Ready to Wander Home, that exact piece is already waiting for its next adventure.

Some things simply can't be made twice.

Found Only Once is reserved for particularly rare S.H.O. creations made from hard-to-find or unavailable materials, unusual combinations, one-time designs, experimental constructions, or pieces I don't expect to recreate.

Each Found Only Once listing explains what makes that particular piece special.

When it finds its home, another exactly like it may never return.

Are all of your pieces handmade?

Yes.

Every crochet piece sold by S.H.O. is individually crocheted by hand.

That means your piece wasn't pulled from a production line or made by a machine. Someone actually sat down with yarn and a hook and created it stitch by stitch.

Because hands aren't machines—and I think that's one of the best parts.

Small differences in stitch placement, tension, color distribution, dimensions, and other details can naturally occur in handmade work.

Hand-dyed yarn can vary even more dramatically from one skein to another.

Those little variations are part of what gives handmade work its character.

Materials vary from piece to piece and are listed in each product description.

Depending on the design, I may work with acrylic fibers, wool and wool blends, specialty fibers, hand-dyed yarn, or other materials selected for the particular piece.

I also occasionally work with yarns that are discontinued, limited, vintage, or difficult to source again. Some of those creations become part of Found Only Once.

Malabrigo is a family-owned yarn company known for beautifully hand-dyed yarns and extraordinary color.

I use select Malabrigo yarns for specialty S.H.O. pieces because I genuinely love their softness, color variation, and the way hand-dyed fibers transform as they're crocheted.

Malabrigo pieces are priced separately from my standard collection because the materials themselves are considerably more expensive.

S.H.O. is not sponsored by or affiliated with Malabrigo. I'm simply a very enthusiastic customer.

That's part of the beauty of hand-dyed yarn.

Color can shift from skein to skein, and shades may appear differently throughout a finished piece.

Rather than being a flaw, those variations are part of what makes each hand-dyed piece distinctive.

How do I know whether something will fit me?

Sizing and fit information is included in each product listing whenever applicable.

Because many S.H.O. designs have relaxed, oversized, wrap, or cocoon-style silhouettes, one piece may comfortably work across several traditional clothing sizes.

Please read the individual measurements and fit notes rather than relying solely on the size label.

If you're unsure, contact me before ordering. I'm happy to help you determine whether a piece is likely to give you the fit you're looking for.

Handmade garments don't always behave like mass-produced clothing.

A cocoon cardigan, oversized cardigan, fitted crochet top, and flowing wrap can all fit the body very differently.

Whenever possible, I provide actual measurements and information about how the garment is intended to fit so you can make a better decision than a single letter size would provide.

Do you accept custom orders?

Yes, for select designs.

My custom-order experience, Made for Your Journey, allows you to begin with one of the designs currently available for custom ordering and choose colors and other available details to make the piece feel more like your own.

Because every custom piece is made individually by me, I accept only a limited number of custom projects at a time.

Available custom designs may change depending on studio capacity, materials, and season.

Usually, not exactly.

That's what makes it Found Only Once.

The original yarn may no longer exist, the color combination may be impossible to reproduce, or the design may have been intentionally created only once.

However, depending on the piece, I may be able to use it as inspiration for a new custom creation.

The result wouldn't be a duplicate—it would become its own piece with its own story.

You can absolutely tell me what colors you're imagining.

You can begin with inspiration from The Woodland, The Coast, The Desert, an existing S.H.O. colorway, or go in a completely different direction.

Final options depend on current yarn availability.

Completion time depends on the design, materials, current studio queue, and complexity of your piece.

You'll receive an estimated timeframe before your order is confirmed.

Because crochet is created by hand rather than machine, custom pieces do require time. I won't rush the work simply to finish it faster.

Why are your prices different from piece to piece?

Several things influence the price of handmade crochet, including the amount and type of yarn required, construction, size, complexity, specialty materials, and the amount of work involved.

I've intentionally created a range of price points throughout S.H.O. so you can find everything from little handmade treasures to larger statement pieces.

Found Only Once is reserved for genuinely unusual pieces.

They may use materials I cannot source again, feature a design I don't intend to reproduce, involve unusual construction, or combine several of those qualities.

Their pricing reflects that rarity in addition to the materials and work involved.

Malabrigo is a specialty hand-dyed yarn and costs considerably more than many of the standard fibers I use.

Rather than compromising the design or material simply to fit it into my standard pricing, Malabrigo pieces have their own pricing structure that reflects the cost and character of the fiber.

When will my Ready to Wander Home order ship?

Ready-to-ship pieces are already completed, so they do not require production time.

Please refer to the current shipping information shown during checkout or in the applicable shipping policy for processing and delivery details.

For one-of-a-kind and ready-to-ship listings, the photographs generally represent the actual finished piece being offered unless the listing states otherwise.

For made-to-order or custom pieces, natural handmade and material variations should be expected.

Please contact me as soon as possible.

Include your name, order information, and a description of the issue so I can understand what happened and determine the appropriate next step.

How should I wash my crochet item?

Always begin with the care instructions included with your particular piece, since fiber content can vary.

As a general rule, handmade crochet benefits from gentle care.

When hand washing is recommended, use cool or lukewarm water with a small amount of gentle soap. Avoid wringing or aggressively twisting the fabric. Gently remove excess water and lay the piece flat to dry.

Always follow any product-specific instructions first.

Unless the care instructions for your specific item explicitly say that you can, I recommend avoiding the dryer.

Heat and tumbling can affect fibers, stitches, shape, and handmade details.

When in doubt, treat handmade gently.
